Calleja Community: Josie Prendergast
Josie Prendergast is a professional surfer and model from Byron Bay. One of the most recognisable longboarders in the world, renowned for her graceful style and delicate footwork.
Born in Siargao, a small island in the eastern Philippines known to be home to one of the most famous breaks - Cloud Nine, Josie spends most of her time either at home in beautiful Byron or travelling the world in search of waves.
What is self care to you?
Self care means being able to rest my body and my mind. It means doing the things I love physically, like surfing and exercising but also allowing time for myself mentally.
When are you the happiest?
When I am with my loved ones and my cup is surf full.
What/ who inspires you?
So many things. My family. Friends. Surfers near and far. Colours! Energy.
What can't you leave the house without?
My bag that's always in the car. It's got all my bikinis, suncreen, hair care and after sun care.
How does being in the ocean make you feel?
Being in the ocean makes me feel calm and at home. It's my safety and happy place.
